Little Sesame is Officially Clean Label Certified!

As you may (or may not) be aware, chickpeas have been receiving a bit of a bad rap lately... but luckily, not all chickpeas are created equal. We’re proud to announce that we have officially received the Clean Label Certification, which is only awarded to products that meet rigorous standards for ingredient transparency and quality. This certification confirms that our product is safe from artificial additives, preservatives, and unnecessary chemicals including glyphosate, arsenic, and pesticide residues. Little Sesame is currently the only hummus on the market with this certification!

In case you’re unfamiliar, this is how products are tested for the Clean Label Certification:

1. Ingredient Review: Each ingredient in a product is scrutinized to ensure it is natural, recognizable, and free from artificial additives or unnecessary chemicals. This often includes verifying ingredient sources and their processing methods.
2. Label Analysis: The product's label is examined to ensure it accurately reflects the ingredients and processing methods. The certification body checks for clear and honest labeling that aligns with the clean label principles.
3. Testing for Contaminants: Products require testing to confirm that the product is free from contaminants or residues that might not be immediately apparent from the ingredient list alone.
4. Compliance: The product must adhere to specific clean label standards set by the Clean Label Project. This can involve compliance with guidelines for minimal processing, sustainability, and overall ingredient integrity.
